Christina Tosto is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) specializing in psychodynamic / attachment based psychotherapy. She also has education / training in cognitive behavioral therapy, which is utilized in conjunction with the psychodynamic approach for maximum efficacy. Christina works with individuals to understand how their relationships and life experiences have shaped their view of themselves, others, and the world. She works with each person to identify unique relational patterns that exist in their lives and find a path toward healing. Christina is an open-minded, non-judgmental, collaborative therapist that believes in meeting people where they are and finding the strengths inside each of us.
Christina’s specializes in working with individuals who are experiencing relationship challenges (marital issues, parenting, friendship, boundary setting / communication, etc.), post traumatic symptoms, low self-esteem including body image, self-harmful behaviors, anxiety, and eating disorders. With experience and training gained at The Center for Post Traumatic Disorders in Washington, DC, Christina is well versed in working with survivors of developmental / childhood trauma and those with Complex PTSD and Dissociative Disorders. Christina is also experienced in working with individuals who identify as LGBTQ+, are working through gender identity (including individuals who are transgender or gender queer / non-binary), or want to explore some other aspect of their sexual or romantic lives.
Christina earned her Master of Social Work from Catholic University’s National Catholic School of Social Service. She has experience working in multiple settings including inpatient, partial hospitalization, and outpatient. Christina offers therapy in both individual and group settings, according to the treatment strategy that best serves the current needs of every patient. Christina is also a graduate of Georgetown University’s School of Nursing & Heath Studies, where she completed her Bachelor of Science degree. This background knowledge has led Christina to embrace the mind body connection and have a deep passion for enhancing mental health as a critical aspect of wellness. Christina practices at the Falls Church Wellness Center, an integrative wellness facility home to a combination of mental health / holistic physical health practitioners.
